It was against how his father wanted to be buried and I am assuming his father had done the same to Eddy’s trusted dog. Eddy also buried the fawn in the schoolyard his wife was teaching at, symbolizing his burial of their relationship, his love, and his emotions. (of course I could be full of shit).
